Time Required:  At least 14 hours

Who should attend?  If you are carrying legally and have never presented a loaded handgun from a holster and engaged targets, then this course is a good starting point.  This is NOT the only instruction you should take but it will, among other things ensure that you know how to safely engage targets from a concealed holster and that you know about Georgia laws dealing with the use of deadly force and concealed carry restrictions.  You will also start to appreciate what you do not know about being armed for self-defense.  That will put you way ahead of most of the people who are legally carrying handguns in Georgia.Goal:

Certificate Issued:  You will receive a certificate of course completion if you pass all three of the evaluation events.
   Written test - mostly deals with use of deadly force and carry restrictions
   Verbalization and gun handling evaluation - deals with safe gun handling
   Live fire qualification - evaluates ability to hit your target from retention and from a concealed holster

Prerequisites: If you have not yet attended the SMFTS Firearms and the Law class you must provide a copy of one of the following documents either by e-Mail attachment of hard copy on the day of the class.
      Valid carry license from any state
      Military ID card
      Law Enforcement ID card
      State employee ID card
      Armed Security Guard ID card
      Receipt for purchase of a firearm from an FFL dealer within the last 5 years.

Student equipment: 
Note paper, pencil or pen
Eye and ear protection
Baseball cap
Centerfire pistol for which your strong side thumb can reach the magazine release
Rigid holster (kydex or reinforced leather)  Must retain its shape when empty.
Good pistol belt Magazine pouch and
at least 3 magazines
At least 500 rounds of professionally manufactured ammunition
Water

Day 2
